Subject: Another Great SRCC Halloween Race Weekend!

Thanks to the great work of the organizing committee and the volunteers this years version of the SRCC Halloween CX Stage Race was an outstanding success.

Tim, Steve & Mike did a fantastic job of organizing the event. Tim, as the overall coordinator, has “raised the bar” for both this event and the earlier Guelph CX Race.

The teamwork of all the volunteers was immense and resulted in a streamlined operation with well-designed, well-marked challenging courses and a couple of fun days for everyone concerned – even with the pre-dawn drive to Kelso! Specific mention has to go to: Tim, Gabhan, Jason, Mark, Mike, Tom, Thomas, Steve for both days and Sean for Saturday and Chris for helping on Sunday.

The hard work and long days paid off with two great CX courses, a smooth event, fun atmosphere and nothing but praise from the racers and spectators in attendance.

Well done everyone!

Dave for arranging for first aid coverage. Thankfully we didn't need to use it at Kelso, but we sure kept the guy busy at the Guelph Cross!

A big thank you to everyone who volunteered their time today to make the Guelph Cross a big success. Setting up the course and running the event was certainly made easier with so many people chipping in.

Lots of riders complimented the club on the course and the event, and some have already sent emails.

135 riders participated and speedriver.com was well represented. Congrats to Mark for his 1st place finish...now he's just got to practice holding onto his beer!

If you've got photos of the race that you'd like to share please let us know.

Up next...the Halloween Cross at Kelso at the end of October. I can't believe how inconsiderate and thoughtless some people can be!

During tonight's club time trial some degenerate stole one of the Caution signboards that are put out to warn drivers of cyclists on the road. It was taken from the west side of Fourth Line at the intersection of Sideroad 14 (that's the first intersection north of the start).

There were two signboards posted at the intersection but only one was stolen. I spent about 10 minutes looking through underbrush at the side of the road in case someone had just knocked it over or thrown it away. But there was no evidence of it.

So if you happen to see someone with a high quality sandwich board made from 3/4" plywood, take a look at it as it might be ours.
